Our Story
Having a family of 3 kids and being involved in Childcare services for over 20 years in different countries, it has always been our passion to contribute to skill development of children through playing, learning and growing together. I (Humera Maryam) started my first nursery for my daughters and their friends in my home. My passion for child care started from there. My eldest daughter (Ayesha Maryam) has completed her Masters in Childhood Education and Early Years from Leeds Beckett University, UK. She will be an integral part of the kids Zone management team.
We are a family business and each and every staff of Kids Zone is an extended family member. We work as a team to supplement and complement each other to ensure satisfaction for all stakeholders – Parents, Children, Staff and the Ministry.
Our vision is to make Kids Zone Childcare Centre a “home away from home” where Parents can bring their children, an environment with trained and caring staff who nurture and grow children to their full potential.
We will continue to provide quality education and childcare in the Region of Peel to support many families as they grow.
Why Choose Us?
The decision to go to work and choose a caregiver for our most precious cargo is a hard one. We at Kids Zone take this responsibility very seriously, and we look out for the welfare of each child daily. We are a small family run business, and our goal is to always make our parents feel comfortable when they go to work, and the children feel like they have a home like environment with lots of friends and hugs.
Convenient Hours of Operation
We are open 7am-6pm and only closed for stat holidays.
Flexible Options for Care
Except for infants (only full time), we offer the option of 2 or 3 days weekly, as well as full time care (based on availability).
Trained Staff
All of our staff are trained yearly in both CPR and First Aid. The staff in our classrooms are either Registered Early Childhood Educators or a Certified Educational Assistant. All Kids Zone Staff are required to attend a minimum of 8 hrs of continuing education sessions through the year to keep abreast of any changing ideas in childcare, and will be provided with more as we provide educational seminars at staff meetings as well.
Educational and Fun
We offer a unique hybrid curriculum, using the Montessori philosophy as well as emergent curriculum. This combination allows all children to use their strengths and build on their weaknesses to progress with confidence. We believe there is no one curriculum that can be beneficial for all children as each child is unique. The learning activities will build on the milestones of the age group and work with the children in attaining their learning needs in order to grow and mature through the preschool years and to be educationally ready for JK at the age of 4 years. Within this program we provide hands on learning through field trips, nature walks, great outdoor space to play, and special visitors in the classrooms. We offer a specialized teacher for music once per week that uses a music curriculum and many fun instruments to learn with. As well we offer a French class from the preschool age onward, using Ecoute Parlez French curriculum. Wings of Discovery is the science curriculum used in our preschool and Kindergarten classes. Wings of Discovery is a comprehensive discovery-based program for young children (infant to age 5) that builds important life skills, self-esteem and inspires discovery by engaging a child's innate curiosity about how the world works.
Nutrition
We provide breakfast from 7am to 8:30am each day, a balanced hot lunch every day, and an afternoon snack. We are able to accommodate any allergy or religious requirement for the meals as well. Learn more.
Licensed Centre
Kids Zone is a licensed childcare centre and we are required to follow the standards of the Ministry of Education. As well, we work beyond those requirements of the Ministry and voluntarily work in the Raising the Bar Program with the Region of Peel. This is a program that supports us in providing program options above the Ministry standards.
Daily Communication
All communication and pictures are sent throughout the day on our Hi Mama app directly to parents emails so there is easy access to the information and easy communication with their child’s educators.
Evaluations
You will receive a detail list of milestones that should be met at your child’s age with comments from the teachers 2 times per year. This gives the parents the ability to understand if there are any areas of challenge and the ability to start communication or conversation as necessary. Also in HiMama an educational profile is compiled over the time that the children are in the centre and is accessible anytime by the parents.
Other Services / Disabilities
We are an inclusive facility. We have experience managing support services for clients with special needs. We have a relationship with Erin Oaks and Community Living Mississauga and can utilize their services when we have assessed a need. We are very experienced in working with other Region Services and private services such as Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapies based on individual needs of the children.
